Despite reaching an agreement with the Confederación de Choferes de Bolivia and the Bolivian government, heavy trucker leaders announced on Radio Fides that they will continue their strike. They have reiterated their ultimatum for early elections within 72 hours from Wednesday if their demands for fuel supplies and the removal of certain state officials are not addressed.
In response, Bolivian officials noted that the sector was invited to dialogue on Wednesday, but the leadership did not participate.
“As the national government, President Luis Arce has offered a platform for dialogue. However, it has been clear that this is purely a political maneuver. Thus, we are not responsible for the lack of resolution because we have provided ample opportunities for dialogue,” he emphasized.
Travel Alert: At present, it’s difficult to distinguish between the roadblocks set up by the Confederación de Choferes de Bolivia and those organized by heavy transport truckers. Travelers should anticipate ongoing disruptions across Bolivian roads in the coming hours.
