A national assembly of the Bolivian Drivers’ Union (Confederación Sindical de Choferes de Bolivia), convened this morning in Tarija, has resolved to stage a 24-hour nationwide mobilized strike on August 1st.
Lucio Gómez, the executive secretary of the confederation, confirmed that this pressure measure is due to the fuel shortage. Additionally, it has been decided to demand the resignations of the Minister of Hydrocarbons, Franklin Molina, and the President of Yacimientos Petrolíferos Fiscales Bolivianos (YPFB), Armin Dorgathen.
Gómez added that the strike will also include road and border crossing closures.
