Cholita Climbers: Known as the Cholitas Escaladoras in Spanish, are a group of Aymara indigenous women from Bolivia who are defying stereotypes by scaling mountains in their traditional attire.
Established in 2015 by Aymara women from mountain communities who were previously limited to roles such as porters and cooks. They are now challenging the notion that mountain climbing is a male-dominated activity. The Cholita Climbers have successfully summited numerous peaks in the Andes, including Aconcagua, the highest mountain in the Americas.
