Radio Fides reports over 10 roadblocks on the new highway between Santa Cruz and Cochabamba (Ruta Nacional 4). These disruptions stem from a long-standing dispute between citizens of Sacaba and their city council.
According to regional media, the roadblocks begin around the 15km mark from Sacaba towards Melga. While the official Road Transitability Map from ABC currently only lists 3 roadblocks, it may not reflect the latest information.
Why This Matters: Protesters have vowed to maintain the roadblocks until council members resign. This could cause significant delays, particularly for passenger buses on the route.
Of Note: Though the Cochabamba bus terminal hasn’t cancelled departures through the new highway yet, they advise passengers to exercise caution as buses and trucks navigate the disruptions. Additionally, traffic on the Old Cochabamba Highway (Ruta Nacional 7) to the rest of the country remains uninterrupted.
