Producers in Limbo Amidst Government Talks: The roadblock, which began on July 29, has intensified as protesters in San Julián resolved on Tuesday night to escalate their actions. They have declared that no pauses will be allowed. Additionally, it was announced that the roadblock in Cuatro Cañadas will resume on Wednesday.
On Wednesday morning, producers in San Julián were still considering whether to attend a meeting called by national authorities in La Paz. Meanwhile, representatives in Cuatro Cañadas decided to participate in the dialogue, despite plans to resume their roadblock on the Beni-Santa Cruz highway.
Government Response: Earlier this week, the Minister of Environment and Water, Humberto Alan Lisperguer, scheduled a meeting for Thursday, August 8, 2024, at 9:00 AM in the Communication Center Auditorium in La Paz.
Transportation Disrupted Amidst Roadblock: The ongoing protests have caused significant disruptions in transportation, with ticket sales to Beni being sold conditionally at the Bimodal Termina in Santa Cruz. A temporary reprieve was granted on Bolivia’s Independence Day to allow the passage of soldiers to Trinidad for a military parade.
