The Secretary of the Confederación de Choferes de Bolivia, Lucio Gómez, announced on Thursday that after reaching an agreement that includes a meeting with all the ministers next Thursday, it was decided that the national strike, which is in effect today, will only continue until the end of the day.
“We have reached an agreement that on Thursday the 8th we will meet with the participation of all the ministers, the heads with decision-making power. Therefore, the resolution in Tarija is fulfilled today and ends after 24 hours. The strike will be lifted,” said Gómez.
In the department of Cochabamba, it was announced that roadblocks would be lifted starting at 5:00 PM on Thursday, and in Santa Cruz, it is estimated that roads will be cleared from 6:00 PM. Similarly, in the city of El Alto, roadblocks began to be removed around 4:00 PM.
It is important to note that this time, neither the transport sectors in Oruro nor Sucre—the most militant in these protests—have released any official statements regarding the suspension of roadblocks.
