A 24-hour nationwide transport strike is underway this Thursday, with heavy transport blocking highways and protesting the diesel shortage in Bolivia. The first roadblock points were established both in Santa Cruz, and on the roads connecting the city with neighboring municipalities.
One of the initial roadblocks was set up at kilometer 13 of the Doble Vía La Guardia, an area linking Santa Cruz with southern municipalities and the old highwat to Cochabamba (Ruta Nacional 7).
Another roadblock, set up before 6:00 AM, is at kilometer 12 of the northern highway, just before reaching Viru Viru Airport. This protest blocks the route from Santa Cruz to the northern municipalities and the new highway to Cochabamba (Ruta Nacional 4).
