Yacuiba Health Workers Stage Roadblock on International Bridge Disrupting Cross-Border Traffic

A group of health workers from Yacuiba has started a roadblock on the international bridge connecting Yacuiba, Bolivia, with Salvador Mazza, Argentina, at the San Jose de Pocitos Police Post. The protest, which began early Monday morning, has caused significant disruptions to international travel.

Demands for Job Stability and Improved Working Conditions: The health workers are seeking job stability, additional positions, and better working conditions from the Ministry of Health. They claim to have been denied social benefits and that many have not been rehired since May.

Protesters Camp Out at Roadblock Site: A long line of international buses and private vehicles has formed at the roadblock, highlighting the impact on cross-border travel. The protest, primarily led by women, began as early as six in the morning.

Travel Alert: The roadblock marks 23 days of protests by the health workers protesters have declared to regional media outlets that the roadblock and the disruption to cross border traffic is likely to continue until their concerns are addressed by the Ministry of Health.  Travelers are advised to avoid the area and seek alternative border crossings.
