The highway connecting Potosí and Sucre (Ruta Nacional 5) is now open for travel after a two-day roadblock in Chaqui. Early Tuesday morning, the Colavi community, who had mobilized for a road project, declared a pause in their protest following an agreement with the Potosí Governor’s Office.
Memorandum Signed, Construction to Restart Next Week: Óscar Mendoza, Secretary of General Coordination for the Potosí state government, alongside strategic advisors, signed a memorandum of understanding with the Colavi community members. The agreement stipulates that work on the long-awaited asphalt project at the Chaquí-Colavi junction will resume next Tuesday, July 22nd.
