Police in Potosí have confirmed a roadblock established on the main route connecting Potosí and Sucre (Ruta Nacional 5) at approximately 11:30 today. El Potosí reports that nearly a hundred community members from a mining region are behind the roadblock, set up at the Chaquí Crossing. The roadblock has been confirmed by the transit report from the ABC.
The images shared by Radio La Bruja, show that people have placed stones, branches, tires, and other objects to obstruct the road.
Several buses, heavy cargo vehicles, and other motorized vehicles have been stranded on the road.
Miners Seek Road Improvement: The protestors are demanding the construction of a paved road in their community by the Potosí governorate.
Travel Alert: Despite the disruptions caused by the roadblock, reports from El Potosí indicate that some drivers are successfully bypassing it by using alternative routes.
