A Showcase of Top Llamas and Unique Local Cuisine in Villazón

The Municipality of Villazón, in collaboration with the Secretariat of Productive Development and Environment, announced today the 6th Municipal Camelid Fair. This exciting event, showcasing the region’s finest camelids and delicious llama-based cuisine, will be held on July 18th and 19th at Modesto Omiste Field, located on Topater Street between Tomás Frías.

Competition for Top Qara and Thampulli Llamas: The heart of the fair is a competition featuring the best llama specimens from Villazón. Breeders will showcase their prized Qara and Thampulli llamas, judged for their quality and characteristics.

Llama Local Gastronomy: Attendees can also indulge in a variety of delectable llama-derived dishes. From traditional llama lagua, llama barbecue, picante de llama, charqui kanka, crispy chicharrón, and llama sausages.

Villazón, A  Leader in Camelid Production: Villazón boasts a long history of excellence in camelid production.  The region consistently ranks among the top producers of camelids and their derivatives, both within the department and nationwide.

A Stepping Stone to National Recognition: The 6th Municipal Camelid Fair serves not only as a celebration but also as a springboard for further recognition. The event aims to select the finest specimens to represent Villazón at the upcoming departmental camelid fair in Yocalla, Potosi.  Success at the departmental level paves the way for Villazón’s participation in the prestigious national camelid fair held in Oruro this year.

Last year, the municipality brought home the coveted title of national camelid champion, a testament to their dedication and expertise.
