Potosí Municipal and State Governments Unite for Andean New Year Celebration on Cerro Chapini

The Potosí Municipal Government and the Governor’s Office are joining forces to celebrate the Andean New Year on Friday, June 21st.  The ceremony will be held on Cerro Chapini, aiming to welcome the first rays of the sun with a sense of unity and usher in a year of renewed energy and prosperity.

Festivities Planned for the Early Morning: Pamela Parrado, General Secretary of the Potosí City Hall, declared at the launch of the event today that the celebration will start in the early hours of June 21st and feature various cultural activities, traditional dances, and a gastronomic festival.

Community Involvement and Artistic Expression: To further enrich the experience, all 11 municipal indigenous communities will be actively involved in the event. Indigenous groups will provide the musical backdrop as everyone awaits the sunrise. Additionally, folk dance groups and ensembles have been invited to join the festivities.

Culinary Celebration: As part of the cultural activities Cerro Chapini, a delicious gastronomic festival will be prepared, featuring traditional dishes like lagua and many others.
