Travelers can finally breathe a sigh of relief as the Oruro-Potosi highway has reopened following the resolution of a protest by the Ayllu Chullpa community.
The roadblocks, which had caused significant traffic disruptions, were lifted after the Potosi state government agreed to appoint their chosen delegate for the Bustillo Province.
Clearing the Way: Crews are currently removing rocks and debris from the three previous blockade locations. While the ABC’s Road Accessibility Map hasn’t been updated yet, social media images show progress at the 60km mark near Llallagua.
Caution Advised: Drivers are advised to exercise caution as some debris from the dismantled blockades might still be present on the road.
Update – 17:32
The road accessibility map from the ABC confirms that the roadblocks have been lifted.
