Despite calls for dialogue and potential resolutions, the indefinite roadblock on the Santa Cruz – Trinidad highway persists. Residents of San Julián have enforced roadblocks, cutting off the route since the early hours of Wednesday.
Indefinite Roadblocks with No Pause: Protesters have announced that the roadblocks will remain in place without interruption until their demands are met, and the three transport operators are sanctioned for unilaterally increasing the fare from Bs 25 to Bs 30, stated Víctor Hurtado, executive of San Julián’s Fejuve.
Hurtado also stated that another demand to the state governor’s office is to grant operation cards to other transport lines willing to charge a fare of Bs 25 for the trip from San Julián to Santa Cruz.
“We will only lift the measure if the governor meets these two demands. People are not in a position to pay Bs 30 because they are in a crisis situation,” he indicated.
Hurtado mentioned that since the beginning of May, they have been requesting state governor officials to address the problem, but their demands have not been met.
Travel Alert: Bus companies operating at the Bimodal Terminal in Santa Cruz are selling tickets to Trinidad conditionally, as the journey may involve significant detours that extend travel time considerably.
